RSS feed information

RSS feeds are a standard for syndicating web content. One subscribes to RSS feeds through newsreader software (or integration with many older web browsers), which will continually check an XML file hosted on a website's server for updates. Any updates are then delivered to the subscriber. RSS specifications provide no mechanism for feed operators to know who or how many are currently subscribed; RSS feeds are purely one-way. Consider them a primitive version of following an account on a microblogging website.

The hunterspencer.net RSS feed uses the RDF Site Summary specification - also known as RSS 1.0 - released on December 6, 2000. It will be updated manually and synced one-to-one with updates on the news page.

how to subscribe

If using an older browser with RSS support, look for the feed icon in the address bar. It will appear on this page and the news page. Click it and follow the prompts.

If using dedicated newsreader software, the feed URL is:

http://hunterspencer.net/news/rss.xml

One can also right-click the small RSS button here and on the news page to "Copy Link Location" and paste it into the subscription window of your chosen newsreader software.

PLEASE NOTE: Modern browsers will often automatically connect to websites using SSL encryption (https) instead of plain http, converting all internal hyperlinks on the website to https in the process. Some newsreaders do not play well with https. When subscribing, be sure the feed URL begins with http, exactly as above.

pssst...
You may already have RSS-compatible software on your computer! E-mail clients like Mozilla Thunderbird (free, open-source) and Microsoft Outlook (Classic) both support RSS feeds out of the box.
